It's that time of year again campers, what are you gonna do when all hallow's eve brings its big bulbous orange head around? Any costumes in mind? Parties, movie marathons, something completely different, nothing? If you wanna talk about what you'll be doing for halloween talk about it here!!

Mari and I have been working on a fantasy story,that I'd like to see actually printed as a book, for a while now.Even though work and her Uni stuff have been a delay to that so far there has been something of a railway to let people's imagination run on it that is done

this project is expected to get fired up soon since mari is finishing with her uni work within a month so I will be able to grind more work out of her harharhar....

...Ahem! Anyway the story will be set in a ''parallel earth'' setting where a continent is being invaded by a foreign power.The main element so far will be the jurney for a nobody to unite all the countries of that continent in an alliance againist the invader and eventually the rise of that person to hero status.

Now the reason this will take long to finish is that mari and me decided to actually create all the history,colture and technology in a reallistic way so we are kind of creating civilazations here :p

Imagining being gods aside I'd like ideas of more people on these things in order to create a more realistic setting so I will submit all the work we have done so far in creating the main character's homeland and first nation that will be attacked the great nation of Varnez!

I'd write it all down now :/ but since it whould be hard to get into it i'll also submit the basic artwork I've done so far (like maps) but due to the lack of a scanner i'll take photos of them all tommorow and upload them

And since I am NOT good in intro notes feel free to ask me anything on the what we done so far! That will make my life easyer and more importantly i wont get bored and forget all about this topic

So the first nation we are making is the nation of Varnez.Its a merchant nation with its capital Varnezia being in a coastal position.Having a navy great in numbers it's regional and international commerce is strong.The varnezians have main source of power is steam and geothermal energy and they are very skilled in the technology that allows them to use it.Also the capital being close to underwater and island volcanos has no energy shortages.Their thechnology has developed in a steampunk fashion and pretty much all weapons and vehicles runs on steam.Their cities have electricity but only in forms like lights since a kind of battery hasn't been discovered.They have many bazaar markets inside coastal stations all around the continent.The country has a political system that is based on status (a system similar to castas) and due to political reasons and inner civil wars the country was isolated untill 100 years ago but from then it has developed in a major economic merchant power,however its still disliked by the other countries on the continent who however have a great desire for trade of technological goods.

the whole status system is also shorted out in case anyone want to know how it works please ask.For the last days I have been doing research to create something of a costitution too,that I hope will have ready soon

Also goodies like the steam guns and canons and vehicles will be added here once i upload the artwork :)

As many of you know, I've been sitting on the new design for this site because I don't want to keep the name "Koholint."

The primary reason for this is its connection to an existing and stratifying franchise, Zelda. Although I love Zelda and initially created the site with some reverence to the series, I no longer feel that the name is very descriptive of the direction I want to take the site. It also doesn't meet a few basic requirements for good branding in the case that we ever expand and monetize anything here (such as merchandise). I'm also considering setting up a company that I would be able to use for access to press events and add some additional legitimacy to our little project here.

Long story short, Koholint's got to go, and something awesome has got to take its place. We've been over a few ideas for the past few weeks, some of it overlapping with linkshell naming discussions. So, we have some place to start, I just really can't seem to do this on my own any more. I'm too self-critical in this thought process.

Firstly, here's a list of criteria the name should fulfill, taken from a list of recommendations for company naming:

• Can the proposed name be pronounced easily?
• Does it read quickly and clearly?
• Can you say it and others understand it, without having to spell it?
• Is it spelled as it sounds?
• Is it short? Experts recommend that a business name have eleven or less letters and four syllables maximum.
• Does it contain negative internal words?
• Is it unique and sensory? These two traits make words memorable.
• Does it spark interest? Is there a story behind it?
• Does it represent who you are? Is it authentic?
• Does it express or imply a desirable message?
• Can your employees say it proudly?

I will post words of strong association in the next reply, but also keep in mind a domain must be made from this idea, so unique words or word combinations are helpful.

Koholint Island has always been a sort of fantasy location within the "story" presentation of the site - and in terms of that story, I will maintain the Koholint name, not forgetting our starting point. It may become a name for the chat, or the forums, or perhaps just an old posts archive. Either way, it would be cool if the next name could reflect this locational idea. THEN again, we could have two names, one a company name to represent the blog, and the other a location name to represent our creative drives. For example, the site might be called "Dodonpa!" while the new location for our adventures could be called "Ardale."

Those two names, btw, are some of my stronger ideas.

Also keep in mind unique URL endings, such as .us and .me - I'm more open to using these than I have been in the past, but I would want them to become a part of the name. For example, there was a site called "del.icio.us," a friend of mine had a web service called "mesmerize.us," and so on.

One final idea that I'm about to embark upon myself would be a Wikipedia crawl. Although I want to avoid associating with any particular franchise, it would be okay if we were named after some historical location, event, person, or any modern concept, really. I've considered the potential of naming the site after a Japanese food, but the implications are too unusual for the type of site this is. Just open up wikipedia to a topic that interests you, skim a bit, look for names that jump out, and surf around various pages. I've done this with Zoroastranian deities associated with Asura when I was looking for LS names.

It's that time of year again folks, and I have something planned. Now, due to the nature of this plan many people may think it invasive, so if you want to be left alone this year from MY antics (im not responsible for anything anyone else does) tell me so here and I wont do anything to you or reverse any damage i've done.

Uh, Yeah, a thread about instruments and making music. What do you know how to play or used to know? Or maybe want to know? Anything about that kinda junk.

So, I played flute in school for 4 years, and that was always my favorite part of school, and every so often I have the urge to pick it up again because it is awesome. I own 2 guitars, an acoustic and an electric but I have no idea how to play them anymore...I think I could play one of green day's songs and some random folk shit but that's all lost by now, lol. I'd like to learn how to play the piano 'cuz I love 'em, have wanted to since I was like 10.
And that's me.

So after hearing Bink's Sake for the hundred millionth time I decided to go looking for the sheet music, found a piano version, and played around with it a bit! XD I forgot how fun instruments were, as I haven't played my flute in probably... 5 years? I seem to have forgotten all but a few notes. Unfortunately there's one note in the piano version that I can't play 'cuz it goes too low. Sad Panda.

...I found all the old music sheets I stole from school though, YO HO HO HO! Return them my ass.
