The game's been officially announced and now it's time to start wanting it. Hard. Onto speculations!

All right, so this next game starts in the sky, right? The Minish Cap's last area also took place in the sky. The Wind Tribe that lived there had been close friends with the king from 400 years prior, Gustaf. That Wind Tribe also wears blue capes, and so does the sword girl from the original concept art. Gustaf has been theorized to be the original hero of that land, and even if he's not, if there was some tragedy that brought the people of the sky together with the people of the land, I'm sure there would be a grateful king somewhere. Specifically, I'm trying to suggest that this game could take place 400 years before Minish Cap. So, the events of this game would be that of the War of the Bound Chest. For this to be true, some of the details of the legend as told by Minish Cap need to be reconsidered: the Picori (Minish) populated the sky alongside the Wind Tribe, and the Hero of Men was originally from the sky as well.

So that's just one fun theory - and here's another! What if we could fly in this game? Yep. That would be cool. Emphasis on the sky, "skyward sword," swords that go towards the sky... flight seems like a good idea. There's a nice article about that here.

Honestly, I won't be looking too far into this game in the coming months leading up to its release. I'll keep up to date just far enough to get a better handle on where the story's going, then it's time to stop.

My question to start the discussion:

What do you think of the Wii Motion Plus in this game? Are you upset about having to move around while you play a game?

My main hope for this game's control is that I dont have to stand. I'd love things to be as fluid as possible as well but i'm a lazy sack.

I'm formulating a theory about the rito being evolved from the people who lived in the sky. I'm also thinking that the city in the sky in TP may have something to do with the sky people in SS.

The Rito evolved from the Zoras, unfortunately for your theory. That much is proven by the fact their ancestral sage was a Zora. I've always thought it was a bit weird that Zoras grew wings instead of adapting to salt water, so maybe that could be explained with more information about the sky.

I really kind of hope that Skyloft is actually a sort of Mount Olympus, and the three goddesses live there. That would mean the hero's line started among gods, which would be fun.

Standing probably won't be required, but I would assume you can't sit back while playing.

The only thing I have against the motion plus requirement is that I have to spend money on it, hopefully the awesomeness of the game will counter this...

I'm kind of hoping Nintendo realizes people like us don't have a Motion Plus and make a bundle for the game. They did that for a few games back when the expansion pack for N64 was released.

Up to this point I had subconsciously assumed they were going to include one motion plus thing with it.

So far they have included one for every game that requires one on the Wii, so that is no big concern of mine.

I think Skyward Sword just points towards the sword coming from the skies. Or this pose:

I think it refers to the ability to travel to Skyloft with it.

I'm guessing the pose is a way for him to draw power from skyloft while on the ground. Which may explain the power slashes and stuff.

Or it could just be a cool pose.

I'd bet the name comes from the pose either way.

Well ppl have been lifting swords to the sky for a long time :P

I really hope this game will be a bit more challenging then the previous ones.
