Do you have ubuntu and are completely lost? Are you thinking of trying out ubuntu but are too afraid!? Well ask your ubuntu related questions here and I (and hopefully some more experienced users) will try to help you out!

OH HOHOHO. I just got that

OH HOHOHO.

I just got that netbook, and decided that I didn't want to deal with the Windows on it, so I got Ubuntu.

I figured I'd download "Netbook Remix" since it's a Netbook, and it was supposed to be better at battery life. HOWEVER. That sucked. One of the features they removed was the ability to have multiple workspaces... which on such a small screen is actually quite useful. So I just installed a real version of Ubuntu 9.10, and now I'm starting to have more fun with it.

I just figured out Wine, but now I'm trying to find things I can use on it. I'd like to try out Cave Story soon as well.

Are there any useful applications you'd recommend?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

honestly no. I usually only installed apps when I really needed them. I could probably suggest some media players or something.

You should look up wine

You should look up wine compatibility, because a lot of the programs you may be dependent upon may run well in Linux with an app called "wine."

If you happen to own two

If you happen to own two computers, or use multiple OSes on one machine, there's a program called Dropbox that will kick your ass.

It plants a shared folder on any computer you install it to, allowing you to store up to 2GB (in the free version) locally and online, so anything you save to that folder will be automatically transferred to the other computer at the next available moment. I can hardly live without it now that I run Ubuntu.
