As I mentioned in the introduction thread, I'm a big blizzard fan, so shouldn't be too much of a surprise I wanted a Starcraft 2 thread.
but with a new WoW expansion coming up and Diablo 3 not too far ahead either, I thought it'd be wiser to make a complete blizzard thread.
but the current main topic is Starcraft 2:
I don't know how familiar you are with it, but to give a short description
Starcraft is an science-fiction themed RTS-game. It has 3 possibles races: the terran: which are the humans , the protoss: a high-tech alien race , the zerg: a more insect-type alien race.
starcraft has known quite it's popularity, even having matches broadcasted on tv in korea.
Starcraft 2 is the long awaited sequel to that game, it's the same type of RTS, but with a new engine, new graphics, new units and a continuation of the storyline. It will be released in 3 parts, with each part containing a campaign for a race. The currently released part is Wings of liberty and follows Marshall James E. Raynor and the return of the queen of blades.
that should give somewhat of an image of the game.
I suggest this topic might serve to exchange usernames for people who'd like to play eachother in game.

What's your race and Why?
for me It's Protoss.
I enjoy the fact that I can just warp in my buildings and put my workers directly back to use.
Also I prefer to rather have a smaller force of more elite troops to manage than a lot of units.
but I'm done typing for now, I'll continue my argumentation later on.

well, terran, the basic strategy is to block of your entrance with barracks and supply depots. then get your resources going and start gathering an army.
one of the strategies you can continue with after that is turtling. just lock yourself in with a lot of marines & start making siege tanks as well, eventually you got enough defense to expand.
and when the other player crushes his army trying to attack you, you counter with your army while he's weakened.

since you haven't been playing for about 3 years, you'll notice quite some change if you will. my personal opinion is that quests have been worked out a lot better with the latest expansion, especially due to the phasing. It's really nice to see your quest zone change.
pvp has a lot more options as well now.
only the instances I believe have gone the wrong way. a lot of pick up groups going the latest instances, you're mostly judged on your gear which is translated into a number called gearscore (addon), it's also mostly about nuking the bosses down asap rather than managing to last a battle.
well, I'm the type who preferred the good old 40 man raids with some whipes and hard work.
I'm quite looking forward to cataclysm, from people I've heard who are playing beta, the changes in azeroth are quite something
I have been semi-following the changes in WoW. Gearscore is a bad thing, there are a lot more to gear and people than a single number. Back in lvl 60, the only one who kept up with my dmg in ALL my UBRS runs were raidgeared bosters, the friend I mentioned in last post, who was a major theorycrafter, and one single crappy-geared rogue. Gearscore wouldn't have let that rogue in.
I appreciated the challenge of tanking a 4-mob pack as a warrior. I heard that it is hardly a challenge any more. Could that be right?
As for SC2, I haven't gotten as far as being able to pick a tactic and keep to it, I just go with what feels good. In my experience, that does not end well.
well, basicly, it's a challenge to pick em up right away, because they don't wait anymore to let you gain some aggro, they just start nuking the moment you charge in.
but once you have em, ye, you mostly don't loose control.
but when cataclysm is gonna hit stores, it's gonna be a whole change once again.
the talent trees, actually, the whole talent system is gonna have a drastic change
got my gf to install D2 again, after a long hiatus :P
she's been too busy with halo (gaylo) and other "good games". Diablo 2 forever.
I'm currently rebooting though. level 24 necromancer is all I have atm. and i don't really intend to use battlenet this time around, sry. ^^

Oh yeah. Last summer me and two friends powered through to act 3 on hell in less than a week, even with gaming a lot of other stuff in between. It was awesome.
After that we started not progressing, and rather duping stuff and getting runes and stuff, just to see how that felt. Wasn't fun for very long, actually.
heh diablo *grins* i once has a level 84 sorceress but...i dont really know what happend to it <_> soooo now im a level 36 necromancer and a level 16 sorceress XD cant remember what i got to in diablo 1 but ive beaten it on multiple occasions....i think those are the only games ive ever actually been really good at XD; ...hmm...now i wanna go play it <_> get up high level again and beat up some cows! XD
cool, i got to hell once with a paladin (lol).
but i don't remember now how far i went, i lost that character years ago.

I do aswell. The current avalible events are horrible. the third phase is said to have some more awesome stuff coming
well, we're still a month away from the release of cataclysm, it's to be expected the events are only small so far. People are currently still too busy with the new talents and using them to try & clear things or raising alts before the release of cataclysm.
Huge events right now would disturb much of that. Not being able to play normally for a month would be a bit much for most players, don't you think?
Yea, I expect the large events to take place two weeks or so before release so as to not cheapen the experience. The wotlk events were kind of lame in retrospect. Everything that wasnt thrall fighting garrosh was pretty unconstitutional whilst deathwing is supposed to be visibly sundering azeroth this time.
has there been any new info or videos about Diablo3? Since they introduced the witchdoctor and gameplay videos I mean. I want to play this @_@!!!
They announced the demon hunter class at blizzcon. I'm sure there's some new footage.
So far we have barbarian, wich doctor, wizard, monk and demon hunter. I don't think there will be more.
Oh, and they announced crafting. Take a look for yourselves, that's much easier than me trying to explain it here.

I could swear they said there were two classes that they hadn't reviled (this being before demon hunter was announced)
I do not have any support for my claim, Mash, so that may be. I was just all the time under the impression that there would be 5.
Five character classes will be included in the game, two of which, the barbarian and witch doctor, were revealed when the game was announced at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational. The other classes will be announced at a later date.

-Male blood elves have recieved a crash course in dancing and now know to stop dancing when they run.
-Drake mounts ave gotten bored with gliding and will flap their wings again while flying forwards.

I'm a terran00b. Seriously, I can't seem to win a single game. Got a friend (by a happenstance the one I went to Japan with) who's in diamond league. I'm at the bottom of bronze.
I play Terran because the basics are simple, more so than, imho, the two other races.
On to another Blizz topic: today I felt strongly for starting to play WoW. Haven't done that since I quit nearly 3 years ago.
