This is the progress we've made so far on Koholint.

My house is the castle to the left, Mashira's is the woody protusion on the right. You can see the half-finished part of Ali's tower set back a bit on the right as well. There's a lighthouse next to my castle. Lights along the side of the mountain dot paths and huts here and there, as there's a network of tunnels all throughout the place connecting each point. You can kinda see the town below Mash's house and Ali's tower in the first picture, though it's hard to make out details. I'll get some better shots later, when the town is done. I'll also add new shots as the island itself progresses.

I just did a bunch of landscaping today, smoothing out a weird edge of the island (with explosives!), so I feel pretty accomplsihed!

Just for reference, we do have a server rule that hasn't really been spoken until now.

That west side of the island, and probably eventually every side of the island, needs to look awesome. You can essentially build whatever you want, but try to keep it in theme, as in, the buildings should be reasonably practical and look as though they might exist in a real world. Granted, some structures would be rather difficult to implement in a real world setting, but the point is they can.

These rules don't apply underground, but they do within the tunnel network of the mountain.

And of course, be respectful.

Oh, and ops may not give themselves items unless that item is unavailable in survival multiplayer.

Then, I thought the side of the island was looking a bit drab, so I decided to fix that.

But look over there, another cool mountain.

And that's what I did yesterday. That bridge has two levels, one enclosed meant as an access tunnel that doesn't have to look perfect, then the upper road bed is going to be a badass piece of awesome. Most likely, it will remain relatively simple, maybe a few short blocks at regular intervals, but there will be spires (most likely) on top of each column, serving as access points from below. If that looks dumb, I'll just keep everything mostly level, as it is.

There's 5 columns, by the way. The road beds alone consist of about 14 stacks of smelted stone blocks (which means each block was mined, then processed in a furnace). The towers are about 3 stacks each, and the rest of the bridge takes up another 3 or 4 just for "little" details.

You can see in the last shot the scaffolding surrounding the columns yet to be built. Those are temporary, of course, just made of dirt, and allowing me access to the more precarious spots under the bridge. I fall a lot, so there's a ladder system built into every tower to get me back up. When lanterns are implemented, I'll probably need to rework the lighting, but currently it's all provided from within the lower road.

My next project is a castle/town hall/Greek temple on the top of the mountain, or a staggered level city/town build onto a steep incline, either right next to my castle, or extending up from the port town I keep forgetting to take pictures of.

Engel has been working hard on his little island sanctuary seen at the bottom right of these shots, and now he's working on some inner functional structures like a forge that provides neverending cobblestone!

Now that the bridge connects us to another island, I'm sure some construction will begin out there soon, too. We're waiting eagerly for you to join us!

Hell yeah My sanctuary and Forge are complete, as well as my long house. My next project....A world tree.

Nafein, get used to the systems, try out buildings on your own server, experiment with designs, then come back to ask for the server ip :D Of course, you wouldn't be allowed to troll us :P

ok s its kinda sucky (mainly the front) but for a first try...coming from someone who could only build square houses in the sims...i think its alright XD;;;

That's a really awesome airship, Jax, I'll be excited when you start it at Koholint! Gotta figure out a place to put it...

So, I wanted to just say to any Koholint server dwellers that you should not radiate any further from the island than you already have so far until Halloween. The update will be introducing "biomes" which will be available in old maps if a location has not been generated yet. And, if you explore an area, it gets generated, so wait until biomes are possible! To be specific, that means we'll get deserts and snowy landscapes and such!

I've built a cannon which can launch TNT quite far, unfortunately, it's very expensive to use and doesn't serve any practical purpose other than blowing stuff up and occasionally killing me. Atm I'm just waiting for that new update since my dream of a lavalit house got destroyed when I misplaced it and got killed.(I get killed by lots of stuff.. mostly TNT and falls)

EDIT: also your castle/island thingy looks so much better than anything I can build.

I've made myself a not so hidden home in a mountain(actually, its just a place with a few tools and a mine). I'm planning on putting random stuff like minecraft boosters and cannons in there.

Also an idea for making the public chest a bit less empty is trading common materials such as stone and wood with OPs/Admin for stuff that's impossible to get on the server like gunpowder and discs. That way people who just get into the server will always have the necessary materials to begin building.(not that I've found that chest empty in any way)

Still trying to find the others I found last night. (Kirby, Circuitboard, Cloudy)

but I felt these were the ones everyone would enjoy.

Anyone who's been on this server needs to log in before Sunday and type "/home," or just make sure you're on or near the main island.

Because I'm deleting parts of the map that are far beyond that area!

I am certain this is kinda not really hard, but I haven't looked into it yet. How do I join up and start setting my own touch on the Koholint landscape?

Is it just to purchase the alpha version, ask for the right IP and get going?

Yep pirchase the alpha version then get the Ip from Mashira or Josh, Well really any of us that play on the server. The we just find you a spot to start building.

Yea, as long as I know that you're going to be playing you just need the IP.

Just dont pass it around without asking.

Also, play a bit on your own before joining us, so you get a handle on what the game's like. There's a lot of fun to be had in the single player that sorta goes away when you go into multiplayer.

NOW i'll be hosting a server for the next ??? days for the express purpose of playing minecraft golf as seen in this video:

I may consider doing some extended hosting and possibly paying for a dedicated host if there's enough demand for it, but I imagine everyone would have more fun over on tsao's server.

Just enter minecraft.mountmeru.net into the old multiplayer IP box deal thingy and you'll be all set up to play some minecraft golf!

If there were a better place, and group of people to show this to, I can't imagine it.
