I bet Josh wanted to make this thread lol : D

Soo.. this thread is for anything related to the Zelda series.

I'll start the discussion by asking, what's your favourite Zelda game and why?

My favourite Zelda game has to be Ocarina of Time (original, huh? : D). It was the second Zelda game I played. The first Zelda game I played was the original, but I think I was too young at that time to really understand much from it (I was 2 lol : D) But from the very start of OoT, I was sucked in to the amazing story and unique gameplay. It felt like the end of the world when I had to stop playing and had to go to sleep. OoT was the game that got me into video games, and probably because of it, I started to learn english very soon. So... if it wasn't for OoT, or the Zelda series in general, I probably never would have gotten into video games, atleast not as much.

So, what's your favourite Zelda game? : D

Well, I will always love OOT.

Well, I will always love OOT. It's what really got me into Zelda, and I love MM with the mask gimic. However, my favorite would have to be WW. The world was huge, and I loved the boat aspect. At the time of its release I was in 4th grade, so it took me half a year to beat it, but I enjoyed every bit of it.

WELLLLLLLLLLLL. There's a lot

WELLLLLLLLLLLL.

There's a lot to say on the subject.

To summarize:
OoT: the key moment in the Zelda series history; proved that Zelda was ready for the modern age of games, and showed that an adventure game could be amazing in 3D. It certainly got me into the series, and I probably played it more than any other Zelda game, but I try not to consider it my absolute favorite, just because it's too easy an answer.

MM: took a successful concept and wasn't afraid to change it completely. This, to me, shows the best aspect of the Zelda series: lack of fear. While a lot of the games may seem pretty similar in the long run, most new games push a boundary in some direction or another, challenging players to overcome some misconception.

WW: Just like MM, WW pushed limits towards ridiculous. They completely changed the art direction, upset a lot of fans in the process, but still managed to deliver an amazingly fun experience. This is also the only Zelda game that makes me sad. They didn't finish it! They axed dungeons for the sake of releasing on time, and that would have been icing on the cake that pushed it from great to masterful.

TP: A lot of people don't think of this game very highly, but honestly, as time goes on, it just gets better and better for me. There's such a rich story, actual character development, and one of the coolest characters to date: Midna! I'm actually working on a 100% completion playthrough for this game, which I've already done for OoT, MM, WW, and MC.

As for the handhelds and earlier games... they're mostly all awesome. OoS and OoA are a bit bland, simply because they're LA clones... but that's not a bad thing, either. LA was the shit. See site title. LttP is definitely my favorite 16 bit generation game, and I'm still shocked by its scale whenever I play that game. MC was actually a fuckton of fun for me, and I found it really easy to just sit through one day and get to 100%.

Now, PH was a bit of an anomaly for me. I liked it, I enjoyed the dungeons (except that one recurring one), and I really enjoyed the bosses. Some of the DS "tricks," like blowing out fires seemed a bit tacked on, but overall, I did like playing the game. It took me forever, though, to get to my second playthrough, and I'm still not all the way through it. I'm attempting a 100% completion, but now that Spirit Tracks is out, I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

Spirit Tracks, which I'll review once I finish, has been really quite good to me so far. It doesn't baby you very much at the beginning, and provides you with a few unique uses of the DS features. And, holy shit. this has got to be some of my favorite Zelda game music to date. WW was amazing, and I loved that Celtic vibe, but this is just... really damn cool. It feels completely unlike other themes, and yet it feels so distinctly Zelda... awesome.

I could not play OOT for shit

I could not play OOT for shit when I got it. I dpent more time trying to hop across those stumps in the pond than I did in the rest of the game. And I will always hate volvagia.

I actually got stuck in the

I actually got stuck in the Dodongo's cavern the first time I played. I went through half of it, got the bombs, then stopped, and didn't realize I had to keep going from the bombs chest in order to access the other half of the dungeon. I think I actually stopped to play Banjo Kazooie instead, until my brother played past me, and I got jealous.

I also died 6 times on Gohma before I realized how to actually control my character. AAAAnd... someone beat the Forest Temple for me. I didn't want him to, but I asked him for help, and he just took the controller and did it.

HOWEVER, I did get the Biggoron's sword before completing the Forest Temple, and I later went on to complete the game without dying at least 10 more times. I only ever 100%ed it once, though... and then I deleted that file, because there were those 6 deaths on it. Oh, mercy.

Link to the past

Yes, Zelda III or A Link to the Past is definitely my favorite.
However, that might be a biased opinion, since I never played Ocarina of Time, which people seem to love a lot.

You should really play it

You should really play it then, even on an emulator.

Link's Awakening is my favorite 2D Zelda game, with A Link to the Past as a close second. Minish Cap is probably third.

So I'm playing through Spirit

So I'm playing through Spirit Tracks, and I'll try to 100% it, just because I don't think I can go back and do all the random crap I've been doing a second time. It's pretty time consuming. Usually, I don't attempt the 100% the first time through, so I can enjoy the game a second time a few months later.

Then, I'll go back to Phantom Hourglass and Twilight Princess, to finish those 100% attempts...

SO the question is, what comes next? I've already 100%ed LttP, LA, OoT, MM, WW, MC... and after these next 3, I'll have completed all the modern Zeldas to 100%... except OoS and OoA. FS and FSA don't really have side quests or anything, so there's nothing to 100%.

Maybe I'll replay LA, since I did that attempt a long long time ago. OoT, too, for that matter. Never did get through Master Quest to 100%, though.

I may not have always said

I may not have always said it, but Majora's Mask is now my favorite Zelda and my most favorite game of all time. Link's awakening is a close second, though I only played it through once. I have never 100%'d a Zelda, I am afraid to admit.

I am enjoying Spirit Tracks more than I thought I would, I was just worried it would be a dumbed down phantom hourglass. This is not so!

It's like a smartened up

It's like a smartened up Phantom Hourglass!

You should try 100%ing Majora's Mask; I actually did it twice! There's a lot of extra content built into the side quests, so you might find aspects you never noticed before by getting into it.

I always did as many of the side quests as possible, as you know that the fierce deity mask is something that I've fawned over since I even met most of you. I think the only thing I might have missed is collecting all the heart pieces. In fact, I would say that that applies to every Zelda game for me.

I suppose that's a good thing. I've come to distrust reggie over the past few years. But with Aonuma working on the game it's probably going to come out amazing like everything else he touches.
