The FFXIV anticipation thread
No news has come from this game since they announced the closed beta, but I have a feeling we're still excited for it.
So, I'm curious, what are peoples' plans once they get a hold of the game?
I'm hoping to start/co-found a linkshell/guild with any of you friendly people who are interested in doing so. It'll have some epic name yet to be decided, I'm already building up features for this site to support a large amount of people from that guild.
As for my character, I was originally quite enthralled by the idea of having another monk, this time a Roegadyn/Galka. Now, I'm thinking I might still go with the large muscular antithesis of myself, but maybe with some archery skills. If the "job" system is really as fluid as the press around this game implies, I might be able to do both monk and ranger without much trouble.
I just hope we don't have to all fall into the same patterns of subjob specialization, where every job has a preferred set of complementary abilities. I want my Monk/Ranger to work, damnit!
We will be joining you Josh, Lao and I. Hopefully Lao's name and my name will be available! We won't be on as much as we were before, but we will be playing. :) As long as they have a black mage, I'll be fine!
The game was recently confirmed for 360, so that's nice. I might not have to buy a PS3.
Then again, it may look better on PS3?
It _will_ look better on PS3.
Yet another reason to buy PS3... I don't wannaaa spent that much money >__>
They are expensive, but not as much as before...I will most likely play on my PC and Lao will play on the PS3. ^.^b
It may not actually look better on PS3 if they're developing with the 360 in mind. If they actually do the PS3 version, then work on the 360 version, then that may be true. We won't know until we can see screens from both.
The main problem with console versions of games like this is the limited RAM. I believe this console generation is locked in at like 512 MB or something as absurdly low like 1 GB, since RAM that big was much more expensive at the start of the generation.
Then again, they have the advantage of big screens and not having to have a powerhouse computer.

I want something with a beard and scars. Hopefully swinging the biggest, meanest looking weapon it can get it's hands on.
